About Follow

Follow is a mobile app designed to help members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints communicate within their local units and groups. Follow is an independent work and is not an official publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

What Information We Collect

When you use Follow, we collect:

• Your name - Used to identify you within your groups
• Your birth month and day (not year) - Used for account recovery to distinguish between users with the same name
• Profile photo (optional, coming soon) - If you choose to upload one, it will be visible to members of your groups
• Group memberships - Which groups you belong to
• Messages - Messages you send within your groups

How You Join Follow

Follow uses a leader-vouched registration system. You can only join by:

1. Scanning a QR code provided by an approved group leader, or
2. Being invited by an approved group leader

This ensures only verified members of your local unit can access your group.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Display your profile to other members of your groups
• Enable communication within your groups
• Notify you of posts, events, and messages from group leaders
• Allow group leaders to manage their groups and communicate with members

Your information is kept separate for each group. If you're in multiple groups, each group only sees the information relevant to that group.

How We Store Your Information

Your information is stored securely using industry-standard cloud hosting services. We use encryption and secure authentication to protect your data.

Who Can See Your Information

• Group members - Can see your name and any messages you send in that group
• Group leaders - Can see your name, birth month and day (for account recovery purposes), messages you send, and can manage group membership and create posts/events
• Other groups - Cannot see your information unless you're also a member of those groups

We do not share your information with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or any other third parties, except as required to operate the app (cloud hosting and push notifications).

Third-Party Services

Follow uses third-party services to operate, including:

• Cloud hosting providers for secure data storage and delivery
• Push notification services to send alerts to your device

These services have their own privacy policies and security measures.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your information indefinitely while you use Follow. If you leave a group, your information remains in our system but is no longer visible to that group's members.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data - Request a copy of the information we have about you
• Delete your account - Request that we delete your account and all associated data
• Update your information - Change your name or other profile information within the app

Data Deletion

If you want to delete your account and all your data:

1. Email support@followlds.com with your request
2. Include your name and the groups you belong to
3. We will delete your account and data within 30 days

Please note that some information may be retained in backups for a limited time after deletion.

Push Notifications

Follow sends you notifications about:

• New posts from group leaders
• Upcoming events
• Messages from group leaders and members

You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time.

Children's Privacy

Follow is intended for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ages 11 and older. For users under 13, we recommend parental supervision and consent before registering. We collect only the minimal information necessary (name and birth month/day) to operate the service.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has registered without your permission, please contact us at support@followlds.com and we will delete their account.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
